The Orissa Mining Corporation had filed a petition against the Environment Ministry at the Supreme Court on March 9 in a bid to get clearances for its mining project at the Nyamgiri hills. According to the latest updates, the corporation has ruled out the filing contempt of the court against the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), reports CNBC-TV18 quoting sources.

Sources said that the corporation is likely to file writ petition within 24 hours as asked by the Supreme Court. The writ petition will be filed in order to get stage II clearance for bauxite mining in the Niyamgiri hills. The Apex Court had told the corporation to pursue either of the two legal options last week.
