A Madhya Pradesh constable's unconventional attempt at reviving a snake has taken social media by storm. The video shows Constable Atul Sharma administering mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a snake that lost consciousness after falling into water contaminated with pesticide. The bizarre yet intriguing act of valour has left the online community astonished.

The viral video hails from Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, where a non-poisonous snake found itself trapped within a residential pipeline. Faced with the serpentine conundrum, the residents resorted to pouring pesticide-laden water down the pipe, rendering the snake motionless. With their efforts having inadvertently rendered the snake unconscious, the call for assistance was made to the local law enforcement.

Enter Constable Atul Sharma, who proudly refers to himself as a "self-taught snake rescuer." Arriving at the scene, Sharma exhibited remarkable composure as he located the ailing snake within the pipe. The video footage captures the constable's careful examination of the reptile, closely monitoring its breathing.

What transpired next was nothing short of extraordinary - Sharma initiated mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, occasionally sprinkling clean water on the snake's pesticide-drenched body, surrounded by an audience that watched in anticipation.

After several attempts, the snake began exhibiting signs of life, and cheers of astonishment erupted from the onlookers. Watch the video here:

Sharma asserts that his snake-rescue experience spans over 15 years, during which he claims to have saved the lives of approximately 500 snakes, NDTV reported. When quizzed about his unusual skill set, the constable credits his knowledge to the Discovery Channel.

He also acknowledges the mistake that got the snake in its predicament and instructed his colleagues to follow a different method so as to not harm other animals again.

However, amidst the praise, questions linger regarding the efficacy of this "kiss of life." A local veterinarian consulted by NDTV has cast doubts on whether CPR can indeed rejuvenate a snake, suggesting that the reptile might have awoken from its stupor naturally.
