Fuzai, a Chinese police dog renowned for its performance and internet fame, has once again made headlines—this time for losing its year-end bonus due to disciplinary issues. The canine officer, stationed at the police dog training base in Weifang, Shandong province, had joined the force in January 2024 and quickly became an online sensation for its remarkable achievements.
While Fuzai was celebrated for significant accomplishments throughout the year, its annual bonus was reportedly docked for unprofessional conduct, including falling asleep on duty and urinating in a food bowl. The unusual news, reported by the South China Morning Post, has ignited widespread discussion on social media.
The penalty sparked a wave of humorous reactions online. One user jokingly enquired, “And what’s the poor guy’s bonus?” Another commented, “Bro took a power nap to do night duty,” while someone quipped, “Did the dog apply for the job?”
Others drew light-hearted comparisons, with one user adding, “Milibhagat of L&T Chairman Narayana Murthy,” in reference to workplace dynamics.

A video summarising Fuzai’s 2024 performance was shared on a Chinese social media platform, where a police officer highlighted the dog’s achievements. The officer praised Fuzai for passing the Level 4 assessment for police dogs, completing various security tasks, and playing a vital role in promoting Weifang’s police dog programme.
“You performed great this year,” the officer said in the clip, as reported by the South China Morning Post. “You passed the Level 4 assessment for police dogs. Not only that, but you also completed various security tasks and significantly helped promote Weifang’s police dogs.”
As recognition for its merits, Fuzai was awarded a red flower, canned snacks, and toys. However, the officer later addressed the dog’s misdemeanours.
“But because of your recent behaviour—being fatigued in the workplace and even urinating in your dog basin—we had to criticise and confiscate your snacks as a penalty. You will keep only the red flower,” the officer added.
Fuzai was born on August 28, 2023 and was donated to the Weifang police dog training base after its original owner brought it to a park at just two months old. There, Zhao Qingshuai, a police dog trainer with the Changle County Public Security Bureau, recognised its potential.
The dog joined the training base in northern China as a reserve operative specialising in explosives detection at four months old. By October 2024, Fuzai graduated from its reserve status to become a fully qualified operative, further solidifying its reputation as an exceptional police dog.
