Billionaire Mark Cuban prefers reading 700 emails every day to attending ‘long, boring’ meetings

Mark Cuban, the billionaire entrepreneur and former Shark Tank investor, has revealed that his daily routine revolves not around high-powered meetings or flashy events—but his inbox. In a recent interview with Business Insider, Cuban described his day as “boring,” dominated by a steady rhythm of reading and responding to hundreds of emails.

His day begins with a decaf coffee and cookie, followed by a shower and taking his daughter to school. After a workout session and a second shower, he returns to his inbox. “I read and respond to emails. I work out. I read and respond to emails. I do a couple Zooms. Then I read and respond to emails. Then I eat dinner. Then I read and respond to emails,” Cuban said.

He receives between 700 to 1,000 emails daily and manages them using three phones—two Androids and one iPhone. Despite his status, he insists on handling all correspondence himself, arguing that delegating email management would only “slow things down.”

For the "Shark", email isn’t just a tool—it’s a strategic asset. He also values email's asynchronous nature, which allows him to conduct business dealings, communicate with employees, and handle press requests from anywhere in the world, on his own timeline. “I’d rather get 700 to 1,000 emails than sit in long, boring meetings,” he wrote in an email to Business Insider.

The 66-year-old mogul’s preference for email stems from its efficiency and longevity. He began emailing in the 1980s via CompuServe, the platform that later acquired his company MicroSolutions for $6 billion. Today, he still has folders from that era, preserving decades of searchable communication.
