Bengaluru’s annual pink makeover has gone a notch higher this season not just on the roads, but online too. As Tabebuia trees burst into bloom across the city, painting neighbourhoods in pink and magenta, Bengalureans are turning to a dedicated digital companion to chase the spectacle.
Bengaluru Bloom (Blrbloom.com), an interactive Tabebuia blooming tracker, is fast becoming a crowd favourite, helping residents locate, track and even report blooming trees in real time. With 20,939 trees mapped using BBMP census data and 147 bloom reports contributed by the community, the platform reflects how deeply the city connects with its seasonal beauty.

Since each bloom lasts just three to five days, the tracker has turned the fleeting phenomenon into a citywide scavenger hunt, especially during the peak window of late February to March. Bengaluru is home to two main species which are Tabebuia rosea (pink) and Tabebuia impetiginosa (magenta)

Data from Bengaluru Bloom shows that some neighbourhoods are emerging as clear pink hotspots this year. Lalbagh leads the chart, with multiple clusters near the West Gate and Glass House Road reporting peak and full-glory blooms. The Indian Institute of Science campus in Malleshwaram has also stood out, with long avenues lined by up to 15 blooming trees. Central Bengaluru isn’t far behind as the Central Library side of Cubbon Park has recorded dense pink stretches, while residential neighbourhoods such as Jayanagar 4th Block, AECS Layout, Sadashivanagar and Indiranagar’s 100 Feet Road are seeing enthusiastic footfall. Even traffic-heavy zones like Hebbal’s Outer Ring Road flyover have found a moment of calm under falling pink petals.
The phenomenon is closely tied to the city’s climate which is the dry spell toward the end of winter stresses the trees, triggering flowering just before the arrival of summer showers.
