Woman throws out Alexa for trying to speak to her husband: 'Super weird'

A woman threw the Amazon Alexa out of her house when the device tried to speak to her husband while she was away from home, a New York Post report said.

In a TikTok video, the woman, identified as Jess, narrated the incident in which she said that the device kept speaking to her husband while she was away and he found the behavior "super, super weird".

"This past weekend, I was gone out of town, and the Alexa kept going off, and it kept talking to my husband."

"He was playing video games at 1 a.m., and he was, like, ‘This is just super, super weird,'" she said in the video.

The trouble for the couple, however, did not end there. After trying to speak to the woman's husband,  Alexa was found to be talking spontaneously without any prompts from the couple.

The unease caused by the device forced them to throw the device out of their house. The video saw many user comments, who shared their own experiences with Alexa.

"I also caught my Alexa at 3 a.m. whispering to my dogs in the kitchen. I thought someone was in the house. I unplugged it," one user said.

"I have them all over my house and we kind of use them for music and timers but I don’t think I’ve ever had anything that weird happen," another user wrote.

A third user said that couple may have been at fault, too. "You have to teach Alexa your voice. Mine has asked many times and we’ve never set it up.. so yeah you did that."
