Adrian Bell, 59, was returning to UK from a holiday in Zante with his wife, Lindsey, 42, when he purchased a cheese toastie on an easyJet flight.

The label on the snack read that it was dated June 16, 2007, which was 10 years from the present date. As per the flight attendant’s response, the sandwich was not out of date but rather labelled wrongly.

When Adrian noticed the date on the toasted sandwich he immediately complained to the flight staff.

One of them reportedly came up with a shocking response: "We should charge you more as it is an antique.”

Adrian said that repeated complaints to the customer service of easyJet had fallen on deaf ears.

While serving the food, the staff on the plane was apparently just looking at the month and not the year printed on the packing.

Adrain said that it was surprising that no one else on the flight had complained.

“I told them and they carried on serving them, so I started telling the other passengers on the plane,” Adrian said.

Despite the date, Adrian ended up eating the sandwich anyway.

“It was still really tasty, to be honest, but it was overcooked,” he added.

Later easyJet clarified that the sandwich was fresh and the confusion had risen from an incorrectly printed label and they had confirmed the same with their in-flight food services partner.
