WhatsApp is used by millions of users daily, and the Meta-owned messaging platform is continuously being updated with several new features. Along those lines, WhatsApp has introduced a new and improved version of the channel list feature, that lets you quickly explore or find new WhatsApp channels easily.
According to a new report by WABetaInfo, this update aims at making the Updates tab more intuitive and easy to use. The Channels tab was launched last year, and many popular celebrities and social media stars have since used this feature to send photo, text or video updates to their followers.
Currently, Channels can be found in the Updates tab on WhatsApp, at the bottom of the app. From there you can find the Status and channels you choose to follow, and this section is separate from your chats or calls with your family, friends, or colleagues.
WABetaInfo has also shared a screenshot of this new feature that shows a new ‘Explore’ button, that makes it possible to follow more channels and view existing ones. Through this tab, you can also search for new channels easily.
The screenshot also reveals a banner at the top of the Updates page, which confirms that this section is the new home for both Status and Channels in the app. This feature is currently being rolled out in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.11.8 update, with a few beta testers only able to see this feature.
We expect this feature to be rolled out in the coming weeks in the stable version of the WhatsApp Android app.
