UpGrad-owned KnowledgeHut's Chief Executive Officer, Subramanyam Reddy, is stepping down from the upskilling company after leading it for 13 years.

The edtech unicorn has now appointed former Byju’s executive Asheesh Sharma to assume the position, effective January 2, according to an upGrad spokesperson responding to Moneycontrol's queries on the development.

“We confirm that upGrad and its division Head, Subramanyam Reddy of erstwhile Knowledgehut have mutually decided to terminate the employment, effective December 5th 2023 with no notice period.  The foundation he's built will continue to thrive. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Asheesh Sharma - President, Short Courses and Bootcamps, effective 2nd January 2024,” the spokesperson said.

The story was first reported by news publication Entrackr.

Sharma joined Byju's in December 2020 and recently departed from the organisation, where he served as the Head of JEE & NEET at Byju's (Think & Learn Pvt. Ltd). Prior to his tenure at Byju's, Sharma was associated with the educational organisation Resonance for 17 years. He left the company after overseeing operations as its CEO for over five years.

Founded in 2011, KnowledgeHut provides short-duration upskilling and reskilling courses to professionals and operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of upGrad. UpGrad acquired KnowledgeHut back in August 2021.

The edtech unicorn later consolidated its three Indian subsidiaries — upGrad Campus (originally Impartus), upGrad Jeet (originally The GATE Academy), and upGrad KnowledgeHut (originally KnowledgeHut) — in a bid to become a global integrated 'LifeLong Learning' company.
