TikTok is reportedly looking to introduce a new ad-free subscription tier to the platform. The company is running a limited test for the subscription.

This was reported by Android Authority, which found a code within the app that suggests the plan. As per the screenshots shared by the publication, the new plan will remove ads from the platform for $4.99 per month.

After the report, TikTok confirmed to TechCrunch that it is testing the plan but only within a single, English-speaking market outside of the US. When asked for launch plans, TikTok made no official commitments and said that tests do not necessarily mean the product will launch.

This wouldn't be widely out of place for TikTok, since other social media platforms have adopted a similar strategy.
Snap Inc offers Snapchat Plus, and Elon Musk has previously said that X will expand the current premium subscription to offer an ad-free version of the platform.
