OpenAI's DALL-E 3 is now available in Bing Chat

Microsoft has announced that OpenAI's text-to-image AI model is now available to everyone on Bing Chat and Bing.com/create for free.

It will roll out first to Bing Enterprise users and then to the Bing Image Creator. In contrast, the image generator will only be available to paying ChatGPT Plus users, and will roll out later this month.

On its own, the Bing Image Creator has helped generate over 1 billion images, according to Microsoft, and can make illustrated stories, thumbnails for social media, backgrounds and more. With the integration of DALL-E 3, the Bing Image Generator will be the popular choice for a while.

DALL-3 is the third iteration of OpenAI's text-to-image AI model and comes with many improvements such as following user prompts with more precision and reliability than the previous model.

Besides that, OpenAI has new safety tools for the model that include invisible watermarks with time and date stamps to identify AI content, and a moderation system which automatically removes images deemed inappropriate or harmful.

Microsoft says that it has trained the model on its terms of service and community guidelines, and it will automatically avoid images, "that contain nudity, violence, hate speech, or illegal activities".
