Google will officially launch the Pixel 8 smartphones today on October 4, 2023. Further, the company will also show off the Pixel Watch 2. Here's how you can watch the livestream.

What to expect from the event

The biggest draw will obviously be the new Pixel smartphones - the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro. One big rumor is that Google may provide seven years of software updates with the new line-up. Till now, Google has offered a promise of three years of updates, while competitors like Samsung offer five years, or Apple even longer.

Besides this, it is rumored that the Pixel cameras will be based on Sony's 64-megapixel IMX 787 sensor, which will be the main camera in the module.

Also expect AI-powered enhancements to the camera software like a better Magic Eraser or Night Sight for low-light video recording and Video Boost for clarity.

This year, the Pixel 8 could have a smaller display compared to the Pro variant. Rumors say that the standard variant will have a 6.16-inch display while the Pro will retain the 6.32-inch display from its predecessor.
