Flipkart opens a new grocery fulfillment centre in Vishakapatnam, promising next-day delivery for consumers

Flipkart has launched its new grocery fulfillment centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It promises next-day grocery deliveries to consumers in the nearby areas, which include Visakhapatnam, along with Anakapalle, Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Srikakulam, and Vizianagaram.

This is the second such centre for Flipkart in Andhra Pradesh after the first one was opened in Vijayawada, a few months ago. It will generate about 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, claims the company. It is also expected to provide livelihood opportunities for several small businesses, MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises), and local farmers in the region.

The new grocery fulfillment center, which is spread across 77,000 square feet, will cater to more than 8,000 orders per day. Flipkart will offer a curated range of products from popular regional brands such as Freedom and Heritage. among others. The product catalogue will have an expansive range of more than 6,000 products, from categories such as dairy, eggs, chocolates, staples, and more.

Flipkart said it decided to go for its second fulfillment centre in Andhra Pradesh after Vijayawada, because of the surge in demand for groceries and other daily items from consumers in Vishakapatnam and nearby regions.

Hari Kumar G, vice president, head of grocery, Flipkart, said, “Andhra Pradesh is a fast-growing market for us, and consumers are increasingly moving to online shopping for their daily grocery needs. Our new fulfillment centre in Visakhapatnam will address this growing demand as we offer a broad array of superior-quality groceries at a great value to consumers on the next day.”
