Beware! These two message ‘bombs’ could crash your WhatsApp

The messages come laden with symbols or hidden texts which, when tapped, ‘expand’ to overload the system or the app

Two messages being circulated on WhatsApp are reportedly causing the app to crash, and sometimes even the entire system. The bug is capable of crippling both iOS and Android versions of the app.

Not surprisingly, the messages come laden with symbols or hidden texts which, when tapped, ‘expand’ to overload the system or the app. This result in the app crashing or system getting a fatal error.

As per Digital Trends, at least two variations of the message 'bomb' have been identified. The first variation is with a black dot that literally warns recipients of what will happen if you tap on it. Though, curious people eventually do just that.

The other one reads, “This is very interesting” with an emoji of a laughing face, which in the end leaves users with a sad face.

Until now, WhatsApp has not commented on the bug. It is, though, expected that it will quietly release an update to deal with the bug.

The bug is capable of crashing both the app and the OS for Android. Though, iOS is reportedly safe from the bug. Only the app on iOS devices crashes because of the messages.

Till the time the app is updated, it would be wise not to be curious and tap on the messages which come with a warning.
