Apple has announced a new standalone music app called Apple Music Classical. The app is designed specifically for classical music and will be available for download later this month.
Apple is launching the app worldwide on March 28 and it will be available to download from the company's App Store. Apple’s new standalone music app is already listed on its app store and users can schedule an automatic download whenever it becomes available by hitting the ‘Get’ button.
The app offers users access to over five million tracks, hundreds of curated playlists, thousands of exclusive albums, insightful composer biographies, deep-dive guides for many key works, intuitive browsing features, and more.
In its release, Apple notes, “Apple Music Classical makes it quick and easy to find any recording in the world’s largest classical music catalog with fully optimised search, and listeners can enjoy the highest audio quality available, and experience many classical favourites in a whole new way with immersive spatial audio.”
Apple is working closely with some of the most prolific classical music artists and renowned classical music institutions in the world to offer Apple Music Classical listeners new, unique, and exclusive content and recordings at launch and beyond. Apple Music Classical listeners will also enjoy brand new exclusive artwork including a series of unique, high-resolution digital portraits.
Users can download composer portraits for Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, and Johann Sebastian Bach here. For access to Apple Music Classical, users will require an Apple Music subscription, which includes the Individual, Student, or Family plans or a subscription to Apple One.
Apple Music Classical is available for all iPhone models running iOS 15.4 or later. Users will require an internet connection for access to Apple Music Classical, while the standalone app will be available on Android smartphones soon.
