FAQ

Laxman’s 281 against Australia at Eden Gardens in 2001 is widely considered one of the greatest innings in Test cricket history. India was following on and under immense pressure, but his knock turned the match and the series, leading to a stunning Indian win. That innings redefined Indian resilience in Test cricket.
VVS Laxman scored 8,781 runs in 134 Test matches at an average of nearly 46. In ODIs, he added 2,338 runs from 86 matches. His Test record includes 17 centuries and 56 fifties, many of which came in high-pressure situations.
Despite being a consistent Test performer, Laxman never represented India in a Cricket World Cup. His ODI career saw phases of selection and omission, largely due to competition for middle-order spots and his relatively conservative strike rate.
VVS Laxman currently serves as the Director of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He plays a key role in developing young talent and supporting India’s coaching structure. He is also involved in cricket commentary and analysis.
Laxman was honored with the Padma Shri in 2011 and the Arjuna Award in 2001 for his contributions to Indian cricket. He is also widely respected for his sportsmanship and has been recognized by several cricketing bodies and institutions for his services to the game.
