Swan Telecom Promoter Shahid Balwa, facing trial along with former Telecom Minister A Raja and 15 others in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case, today told a special court that then Solicitor General (SG) GE Vahanvati had said that the firm was eligible for the licenses.
Special public prosecutor Anand Grover wrapped up his final arguments contending that the Rs 200 crore transaction between DMK-run Kalaignar TV (KTV) and the DB Group firms was "proceeds of crime" and not genuine.
"The court-appointed special public prosecutor says that the recording of evidence is over. Now final arguments have commenced. It would not be proper to deal with these," the bench said during the hearing.
A bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice A K Sikri ordered listing of plea of Balwa for hearing on November 18.
Special CBI Judge O P Saini, who was scheduled to hear the matter today, deferred the case after counsel for CBI and the accused sought more time.
