One of the sources said Mindtree founders had supported Ravanan's continuation to ensure business continuity but given the developments over the past few weeks, Ravanan will expected to step down from his role in the coming weeks.
Mindtree is exploring options for buyback of shares and a decision will be taken in the next three to six months.

The global economic slowdown following Brexit has resulted in longer sales cycles in the UK and US businesses of Mindtree, says Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Rostow Ravanan.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Mindtree‘s management said that the macro environment has been challenging and Brexit impacted its Europe business a lot.

"Rupee revenue in Q4 grew by 9 percent to Rs 1,324.2 crore and dollar revenue increased 6.1 percent to USD 195.6 million compared to preceding quarter," the software company said, adding constant currency revenue growth was 7.1 percent.
Newly appointed CEO, Rostow Ravanan expects margin profile to be around 18-20 percent at an earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) level going forward. Commenting on the newly acquired entities he said that it will take around five quarters to improve profitability as they have low margins at present.
Effective April 1, the move will see current chief Krishnakumar Natarajan moving on to the role of Executive Chairman with co-founder Subroto Bagchi stepping down from the position. Bagchi will continue on the Board as a non-executive director.
The Bengaluru-based company's net profit stood at Rs 140.8 crore in the year-ago period. The company has reshuffled its management structure at the top level by elevating its CEO and Managing Director Krishnakumar Natarajan as the Executive Chairman, following the stepping down of co-founder Subroto Bagchi.
