Chandrashekhar further added that the reserve price for 900 MHz to be fixed by the EGoM and the auction will be first focusing on 1,800MHz. The 900 MHz auction is to held between November 2012 and May 2013, he informed.
Ashok Sud, Secretary General of AUSPI considers the new spectrum refarming decision to be a very unfair one and he is not yet clear about what drove the EGoM to take such a decision. According to him, the government has given into the lobby of older operators who hold large chunks of 900 Mhz spectrum.
The Telecom Commission will meeting later today on spectrum re-farming. While the commission is unlikely to take a final call on re-farming in today's meeting, the internal committee formed by the Department of Telecom (DoT) will be discuss issues pertaining to re-farming, reports Malvika Jain of CNBC-TV18.
