Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj today welcomed the Supreme Court order favouring a CBI probe into the linkage between mining activities in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh allegedly involving the Reddy brothers.
A special court today adjourned till September 23 the hearing on CBI's petition seeking custody of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law B V Srinivas Reddy, arrested in connection with the alleged illegal mining activities.
After Bellary, mining operations of two other districts of Tumkur and Chitradurga in Karnataka were today suspended by the Supreme Court which said that balance has to be struck between economic development and environment, reports CNBC-TV18's Mehak Kasbekar.
