The Anti-Drug Intelligence Unit (ADIU), acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid on the premises and uncovered around 250 grams of methamphetamine, along with various scientific equipment and chemicals used in the drug's production. Authorities seized a range of laboratory tools, including weighing machines, glass jars, test tubes, pipettes, burettes, and mobile phones, all of which were allegedly used in the illicit operation.
"The temple is now empty of monks and nearby villagers are concerned they cannot do any merit-making," an official said.
The drugs, which were seized Oct. 23, had been concealed in bottles labeled as coconut water in a cargo shipment that arrived in Hong Kong by sea, according to a government statement.
