Earlier in the day, the CEO of Digi Yatra Foundation Suresh Khadakbhavi too denied the media report terming it as "unfounded claims based on unknown sources."
Digi Yatra Foundation CEO Suresh Khadakbhavi on Tuesday said a pilot project is likely by June next year for connecting two countries with Digi Yatra. Under the project, foreign citizens will be able to use Digi Yatra.
Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Bagdogra, Patna, Goa (Dabolim) and Coimbatore are the other airports to get Digi Yatra
Digi Yatra has the mandatory CERT-In audit certificate, which is required for the DYCE backbone, mobile apps, and airport verifiers as per the civil aviation ministry policies
The facility is now there at 14 airports for domestic passengers and discussions are ongoing with various stakeholders concerned to make it available for international travellers as well.
Digi Yatra’s official account said, “Uninstall the old app and download the new #digiyatra app now and travel without any worry! Available on iOS and Android.”
Currently, Digi Yatra, which provides for contactless, seamless movement of passengers at various check points at airports based on Facial Recognition Technology (FRT), is available at 13 airports for domestic passengers.
As of now, the Digi Yatra' facility is available for Akasa and IndiGo passengers in Guwahati, and it will be offered by all other airlines by September, LGBI chief airport officer Utpal Baruah said said.
The Digi Yatra facility will be launched at Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Guwahati airports.
Kolkata, Pune, Vijayawada and Hyderabad airports, too, will get DigiYatra by March 2023, civil aviation ministry has told Parliament
NITI Aayog has also urged the government to adopt a facial recognition model that is free of bias, which might result in incorrect decisions and, ultimately, exclusion from access.
