Delhi-Meerut RRTS: The 17 km-long priority section between Sahibabad-Duhai will be operationalised this year, while the entire corridor will likely open by 2025.
The Delhi-Meerut RRTS will cover the distance between the two major cities under 55 minutes and will have a total of 25 stations across the corridor.
The procurement of this AFC system is being done based on the hybrid annuity model (HAM) first time in India. Paytm will work with technology firm Datamatics – AEP Consortium for the task.
Designed and built to move passengers at 180 kmph, these trains are expected to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Meerut by 40 percent.
The Delhi portion of the elevated RRTS section starts from Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station and passes above the existing Barapullah Flyover while crossing the Yamuna river to reach New Ashok Nagar RRTS station.
The NCRTC, which is executing the country's first Regional Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS), said the contract was awarded following the set procedure and guidelines.
