“I get files on a regular basis where central departments are planning to file appeals against sound court orders,” Meghwal said.
The policy will lay out terms for when a government organisation or ministry can file litigation in court and is aimed at easing the burden on the courts by reducing pendency.
As a law minister, Meghwal oversaw the passage of many important laws in the parliament, such as the mediation act, the new criminal laws, the personal data protection act, the law on appointment of election commissioner and chief election commissioner and the law on control of administrative services of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
The ministry has been allocated Rs. 1700 crore more this year. In the Union budget 2023, the law ministry was allocated Rs. 4752 crore.
