In the near-term the market has a pretty strong base of 8500 (on Nifty); even after several attempts those levels have not broken, says Vaibhav Sanghavi of Ambit Investment Advisory.

The outlook on the stock market looks broadly positive -- yesterday's selloff notwithstanding -- and Ambit Investment Advisory has deployed some fresh funds into equities, says its MD and fund manager Vaibhav Sanghavi.

So going by sheer earnings growth, even without a massive re-rating in the markets, cumulatively we will grow 32-33% in two years, which takes the index number from 8500 to 11000."
