Upping the ante after their agitation entered the 47th day, Air India pilots on Saturday decided to start indefinite hunger-strike here from on Sunday to highlight their demands relating to career progression and other issues.
As the agitation by protesting pilots entered the fourth day today, 12 Air India international flights were cancelled even as the Civil Aviation Minister hoped that the airline "does not enter the ICU".
There is more trouble likely for the Air India management as it braces itself for one more round of unrest from the pilots.
Refusing to talk to striking Air India pilots, the government on Monday said it will wait till the stir is called off and abide by the court's order on the Contempt of Court proceedings initiated by the airline management.
The court asked senior counsel N K Kaul and K T S Tulsi appearing for Indian Commercial Pilots Association and their three office bearers to seek instructions from their clients and inform it about their decision about calling off strike by 2.15 pm, when the courts resumes hearing on the contempt plea.
According to the latest update, 800 Air India pilots have decided to go on strike from midnight since the talks with the management have failed, reports CNBC-TV18.
