Images of Mars captured by three NASA rovers — Spirit, Curiosity and Opportunity — were used to make the first-ever 4k video of the Red Planet. British YouTubers ElderFox Documentaries used thousands of pictures to create the 'world's first' view of Mars in ultra-high definition.
The team of British science enthusiasts who made the documentary have claimed it to be the “most lifelike experience of being on Mars”. It was uploaded on YouTube on July 17 and has been viewed more than 2.3 million times already.
As the 10-minute clip begins, the narrator can be heard saying: “The images in this video are all real…. sit back, relax, and enjoy this journey across the surface of another world.”

One can get panoramic views of the Red Planet in the video, along with deserts, massive dunes, cracked ground, jagged rocks, etc. The locations that are visible in the 4k video have been named Burns Cliff, Santa Maria Crater, Cape Verde and Marathon Valley Entrance.
All the images used to make the video are publicly available and have already been shared by NASA on its website. The US space agency had focused on sending pictures rather than videos because Mars is quite a static planet.
Perseverance, NASA's next Mars rover, is slated to arrive on the Red Planet in February 2021. It has 23 different cameras that have been mounted for navigation and science purposes, but they are also expected to be sending back home some stunning pictures in higher resolution.
