With a vision to give an alternative to the voters for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi listed out various policies and proposals for the development of the country and urged for a chance to be elected to power. "You gave 60 years to the rulers, give 60 months to the workers," Modi appealed to the voters.

Speaking at BJP's National Council meet, Modi listed out the need for better education in the country to stand at par with the growing economies in the 21st century. "If we need to keep our head high, we need to work on better education. Every state should have IIMs, IITs and AIIMS," he said.
He also said that there was a need for infrastructural development in India. In his plan for a better India, he stated the government needs to give a push to the river interlinking project. He also called for a better railway system to come in place before the country celebrates the diamond jubilee of its independence.
Calling this the darkest phase of the country, Modi said that the country had never seen such corruption as has been witnessed in the past one decade. He stated that there was a need for an immediate change at the Centre. "The country has heard a lot about Acts, the country now wants to see action. We have heard a lot about committees, the country now needs commitment," Modi said while enumerating the loss that the country had suffered in the last 10 years under the Congress led United Progressive Alliance's regime.
He also hit out hard at the Congress for calling him a tea vendor and said that the party in power has got scared of contesting against a 'chai wala' due to which they are not ready to declare their prime ministerial candidate. "Congress is heading towards defeat which is why Sonia Gandhi is reluctant to sacrifice her son Rahul Gandhi," he said, adding that those born in high families consider it an insult to fight polls against a person who was a tea seller.
Looking ahead at the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Modi said that the elections this time is of "hopes and aspirations of the people of the country."
