Trinamool Congress, the ruling party in West Bengal, has declared a massive Jono Gorjon sabha at Brigade Parade ground in Kolkata on March 10, protesting what they claim is discrimination by the Central government against the state's social welfare projects.
The event is also expected to mark the beginning of the Trinamool Congress party's campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The gathering is expected to serve as a platform for TMC to rally against what it perceives as the BJP's tyranny and step-motherly attitude towards West Bengal.
The party alleges a cessation of funds to Bengal under crucial schemes like MGNREGA and Awas Yojna, forming the focal point of their fight against the ruling party. A key theme of the event centers on what AITC terms the BJP's "reign of Zamindari".
Under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, chief of Trinamool, and Abhishek Banerjee, National General Secretary of the party, there are expectations of significant announcements that could shape the direction of the party's political path in the months ahead.
After the event, Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to embark on a series of back-to-back public meetings, followed by an extensive mass outreach campaign, the details of which are yet to be revealed.
Approximately 600 influential leaders are set to attend the event. Ripun Bora, Sushmita Dev, Mukul Sangma, Kirti Azad, Shatrughan Sinha, Saket Gokhale, and Sagarika Ghose are expected to attend the mega gathering.
A special ramp, intricately designed in the shape of the party's symbol of twin flowers, has been set up; it will symbolise the seamless connection between the stage and the audience.
