AI will hollow out the middle class | Policy Talk

January 08, 2024 / 17:00 IST

Sangeet Pal Choudary is a global business consultant, advisor, and best-selling author. He is best known for his work on platform economics and network effects. He is the co-author of the international best-selling book - Platform Revolution: How Networked Markets Are Transforming the Economy and How to Make Them Work for You.

His work has been featured on four occasions in the HBR Top 10 Must Reads collections.

The conversation is divided into three parts to make it easier for listeners.

The first section is on public policy in the platform world. In this section, Choudary addressed issues like how big tech platforms have influenced society, economics, and democracy.

The second section is on the impact of AI on jobs and how AI is hollowing out the middle class by the commodification of skills. And this hollowing out will ultimately lead to a fall in GDP of countries.

The third section is the role of digital public infrastructure in the platform world. Choudary has clear ideas on why ONDC is not able to succeed despite efforts being made by stakeholders.
