Mid-cap stocks with quality businesses and healthy prospects have always found a place in the long-term portfolios of investment managers, irrespective of market movements. They withstand the corrections relatively well and deliver better returns in the long run.
The Indian equity market has been on a downtrend over the last two months. The frontline indices across market capitalisation segments have registered more than a 10 percent slump since their last peak on September 26. This does not prevent investment managers from holding quality stocks in their portfolios irrespective of market movements. Major investment vehicles such as mutual funds (MF), portfolio management services (PMS) and alternative investment funds (AIFs) love to hold these quality stocks that have the ability to withstand corrections in the market relatively well and, moreover, deliver better returns over the longer term. Here are the top mid-cap stocks that are held by the most number of MF, PMS and AIF schemes. Equal weightage was given to each vehicle while arriving the list.
