The government had fixed the issue price of LIC shares at Rs 949 apiece after a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) which was oversubscribed nearly 3 times.
Headquartered in Mumbai, LIC is a household name in India, with 2,000 branches, more than 100,000 employees and 286 million policies. The 65-year-old firm has almost $500 billion in assets, 250 million policy holders and makes up almost two-thirds of the market.
The Health Ministry said that India has a very transparent and efficient system of reporting COVID-19 deaths, right from the gram panchayat level to the district and the state level.
