Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was involved in a minor accident on Monday evening at the Vamanapuram Park junction in Thiruvananthapuram, according to reports from news agency PTI. The incident occurred while he was returning to the capital from Kottayam, accompanied by five escort vehicles and an ambulance.
Video footage from the scene shows one of the escort vehicles attempting to assist a scooter rider who was crossing the road and changing direction. This led to a chain reaction when the pilot car stopped suddenly to avoid the two-wheeler, causing several vehicles in the convoy to collide. The Chief Minister's vehicle only sustained minor damage, and he was unharmed in the accident.

The footage captured a woman driver making a right turn, which caused a white SUV behind her to brake sharply. This abrupt stop resulted in the six escort vehicles, including an ambulance, crashing into one another.
The incident took place as Vijayan was traveling back to Thiruvananthapuram, located approximately 150 km from Kottayam. Following the accident, security personnel quickly exited their vehicles to assess the situation and ensure the Chief Minister’s well-being. Medical staff from the ambulance also rushed to the scene.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the actions of the female two-wheeler driver involved in the incident.
