Two Indian Navy officers participating in an operational demonstration fell into the Rama Krishna beach in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam after their parachutes got entangled during descent.

The officers had a close shave while participating in an operational demonstration rehearsal of the Eastern Naval Command, when their parachutes got mixed up. Fortunately, none of the officers were harmed during the mix-up and they managed to reach the shore safely.

A video showed both officers in free fall as their parachutes got entangled, with one officer carrying the national flag. The two officers could not control the descent as they fell into the waters of the Rama Krishna beach.

A navy boat was present close to the spot where the two officers fell and rescued them to safety, according to NDTV. Several people were present on the spot to witness the rehearsal.

The operational demonstration of the Indian Navy is scheduled for January 4 at the Rama Krishna beach in Visakhapatnam, where Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is the Chief Guest. The event will be hosted by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.

The demonstration reflects the Eastern Naval Command’s commitment to fostering a strong bond with the people of Andhra Pradesh and demonstrating the Indian Navy’s unwavering readiness to safeguard the nation’s maritime interests, according to an official statement.

The Operational Demonstration will showcase the Indian Navy’s cutting-edge capabilities through an exciting and neatly choreographed array of activities, including demonstrations by Warships, Submarines, Aircraft, Naval Band and the Marine Commandos (MARCOS).

According to NDTV, it also includes high-speed manoeuvers by warships of various types, flying operations by fighters and fixed-wing maritime aircraft as well as various types of helicopters, demonstration of amphibious assault, live slithering operations and Combat Free Fall by MARCOS. The event would also feature a unique Horn Pipe Dance by the Sea Cadets Corps from Visakhapatnam and the Beating Retreat Ceremony by the ENC band.
