Pakistan’s former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's claim that “Muslims were being demonised" by India was countered by a foreign journalist.
Bilawal was speaking at a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday. In response to Bilawal’s claim, a foreign journalist replied that as far as he recalls, an Indian muslim military official was conducting the briefing for India's Operation Sindoor.
"Let me start with a statement you (Zardari) made today saying that the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir is being used as a political tool to demonise Muslims in India. Sir, I have watched the briefings from both sides. And as far as I recall, there were Muslim military officers conducting the briefing for India,” the journalist was quoted as saying by Times of India.
Operation Sindoor’s briefing was led by two senior women officers: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, a helicopter pilot in the Indian Air Force, along with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
Bilawal also sought dialogue and intel sharing with India to combat terrorism. “Pakistan would still like to co-operate with India to combat terrorism we can’t leave the fate of 1.5 or 1.7 billion people in the hands of non-state actors and terrorists for them to decide at a whim that two nuclear armed powers will go to war and this is the new normal of the new abnormal that the Indian government is trying to impose on the region," he said.

He also accepted that the Pakistani government’s efforts to raise the Kashmir issue on global platforms, especially at the United Nations, have faced continuous setbacks.
“As far as the hurdles we face within the UN and in general, as far as the Kashmir cause is concerned, that still exists," Bhutto said at the press conference.
On May 7, the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor, eliminating nine terror sites deep inside Pakistan. This was in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. The Pakistani side attempted to target Indian defence and civil installations. India retaliated with precision strikes, destroying several Pakistan air bases. An understanding of the cessation of hostilities was reached on May 10.
