A group of devotees was seen drinking water dripping from an elephant-shaped structure on the wall of a temple in Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, in a social media video that has went viral.

The video is said to be from the famous Banke Bihari temple.

The devotees assumed the water to be the 'charan amrit' of Lord Krishna and started collecting it in cups, while others drank from cupped hands, mistaking it for holy water. The video shows some devotees even placing the water on their heads for blessings.

Local media reports say the water was from the air conditioners (AC) installed at the temple.

In the video, a temple visitor is heard telling devotees that the water is from the AC, not from the feet of Lord Krishna: “Didi ye AC ka pani hai, ye charnon ka pani nahi hai (This is AC water, not the water from the feet of Lord Krishna)"

Soon after the video went viral, health experts came forward to warn people against consuming water without verifying the source.
