The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is likely to present a budget of about Rs 8 lakh crore for the coming financial year 2025-26. Of this, up to Rs 2.50 lakh crore could be set aside for development projects as government focusses on strengthening the state's infrastructure including the roads network and expressway projects in the state.
Reports suggest that the Finance department has begun brainstorming on the proposals received from various departments. The budget session of the UP Assembly is expected to convene in the second week of February.
Besides strengthening infrastructure, the Budget is likely to see a concerted push towards agriculture and welfare schemes. The UP Budget is expected to see a significant portion earmarked for the agriculture sector and providing relief to farmers and new schemes.
The Yogi government had presented a Budget of Rs 7,36,437.71 crore for the current financial year 2024-25, which was the biggest ever budget for the state thus far. The coming Budget for the net financial year is likely to surpass the earlier edition by a significant margin.
Like the second supplementary Budget, the Yogi government is likely to maintain its thrust on the energy sector with significant allocations expected for new projects and improving the power distribution framework.
