Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Sunday, lauded the Brahmin community for its role in shaping India’s spiritual and intellectual heritage, urging that every government must work towards its welfare.
Addressing the All India Brahmin Conference organised by Shri Brahmin Sabha in Pitampura, Gupta described the community as “torchbearers of knowledge” who have long served as a guiding force in Indian society.
“If anyone is igniting the flame of knowledge in society, it is our Brahmin community. They worship not only scriptures but also weapons. Only through both can we protect society and the country today,” she said.
Gupta praised the Brahmin community for its contribution to education, religion, and social harmony, saying it has “always worked for the welfare of society.”
“No matter which government is in power, it should work for the welfare of the Brahmin community to take them forward,” the Chief Minister added.
The Chief Minister also took a swipe at previous governments, saying Delhi had “lagged behind” for nearly three decades and that her administration’s goal is to accelerate development and make the national capital a Viksit Delhi (developed Delhi).
“For 27 years, Delhi has been moving at a slow pace. Now is the time to shift gears and accelerate progress. If we all work together in the interest of Delhi and its people, the city will surely emerge as a Viksit Delhi,” she said.
Later in the day, Gupta addressed another event, the Inter-State Brahmin Conference organised by the Maithili Brahmin Sabha, Delhi Pradesh, where she invoked Lord Parashuram, describing him as a symbol of strength, duty, and righteousness.
“Lord Parashuram’s teachings remind us that dharma is not just about how we act but about our duty towards society,” Gupta said.
Reiterating her government’s commitment to inclusivity, the Chief Minister said the aim is to ensure equal opportunities for every community while honouring their contribution to the nation’s growth. “Only a united society can achieve true progress,” she said.
