The inheritance battle over late businessman Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000-crore estate has taken yet another dramatic turn as the Delhi High Court asked his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, to file a response to a fresh plea by his children requesting inspection of their father's alleged original will.
This will, dated March 21, 2025, purportedly leaves Sunjay Kapur's assets - reportedly worth Rs 30,000 crore - almost entirely to Priya. This has triggered a massive inheritance war.
While the matter is being fought in court, there are various voices outside as well levelling serious allegations. One of them is Mandhira Kapur Smith, sister of the late businessman. In a podcast - InControversial with Pooja Chadhuri - Mandhira labelled Priya's actions as "pure robbery" and "major theft."
On Priya's insistence on a non-disclosure agreement, Mandhira said, "You (Priya Sachdev Kapur) wanted an NDA. You wanted the will in a sealed envelope. And now you don't want a forensic. What are you hiding? How many games are we going to play?"

"Safira has been called the daughter (in the will). Samaira is the daughter - not Safira. Safira is the stepdaughter. Her biological father (Vikram Chatwal) is alive," said Mandhira Kapur, speaking on the podcast.
On November 11, Sunjay Kapur's elder children, Samaira and Kiaan - from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor - submitted an application before the Joint Registrar requesting access to inspect the will.

The case is now scheduled for a hearing on December 16.
Earlier, during a previous hearing, Priya Kapur's lawyer argued that a will cannot be deemed fake due to spelling mistakes, especially when Sunjay Kapur's signature itself had not been challenged. Now, Karisma's children have submitted a new petition questioning the genuineness of that signature.
