As the global textile industry pivots towards sustainability, India is leading the charge towards sustainable textile solutions. Bharat Tex 2025, the country’s largest global textile event, places a strong emphasis on sustainability and circularity.
Scheduled from February 12-17, the event is taking place at two grand venues — Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi (Feb 14-17) and India Expo Centre, Greater Noida (Feb 12-15).
With a record-breaking 5,000 exhibitors, 6,000 international buyers from over 110 countries, 120,000+ visitors, and 12,000+ products showcased across 2.2 million sq. ft. of exhibition space, Bharat Tex 2025 is poised to be a landmark event. Backed by the Ministry of Textiles and 11 major textile industry bodies, the expo will showcase India’s leadership in sustainable textile innovation, circularity, and responsible manufacturing.
Under the theme "Innovation Meets Responsibility," the event will emphasize sustainable practices, digital transformation, and value chain efficiency. Special pavilions dedicated to smart textiles, green manufacturing, and the circular economy will highlight the industry's commitment to environmentally responsible growth. Interactive zones featuring fabric testing, innovation showcases, and startup-driven textile solutions will further reinforce India’s role in advancing textile technology.
Bharat Tex 2025 will witness the launch of several sustainability-focused projects, including the UNIDO-GEF-Ministry of Textiles Project, which aims to eliminate hazardous chemicals from textile production. Additionally, seven new EU-funded projects worth EUR 17.67 million will be launched in the textiles, handloom, and handicraft sectors. Other key launches include an AI & Blockchain module for textile recycling developed by the ILO, along with EU-REI toolkits on Circular Economy & Resource Efficiency, providing industry players with best practices for sustainable manufacturing.
A dedicated Sustainability Pavilion will showcase breakthrough innovations, including winners of circular design contests, sustainability hackathons, and pioneering eco-friendly solutions. Exhibitors will present cutting-edge technologies such as water-efficient dyeing techniques, organic cotton farming, closed-loop manufacturing, and textile waste upcycling. Additionally, textile clusters from Panipat, Tirupur, and Surat will highlight real-world applications of circular economy principles, demonstrating their commitment to responsible production.
A special showcase on Kasturi Cotton, India’s premium sustainable cotton brand, will emphasize its traceable value chain and high-quality global standards. This initiative reinforces India’s commitment to sustainable sourcing and ethical textile production, positioning the country as a leader in eco-friendly textiles.
Bharat Tex 2025 will also host a global-scale conference featuring over 80 international speakers across 70+ sessions, discussing key sustainability themes such as The Future of Sustainable Textiles, Pathways to Decarbonization, Green Synergy in Value Chains, Circular Economy in Textiles, and Regulatory Shifts Impacting Global Trade. A multilateral conclave will bring together policymakers, global think tanks, and industry leaders from organizations such as the United Nations, European Commission, and Fashion for Good. Additionally, a workshop in collaboration with the Laudes Foundation will provide MSMEs with hands-on strategies for integrating sustainability into their operations.
A major highlight of the event will be its focus on sustainable fashion, featuring live demonstrations of zero-waste design techniques. Designers and brands will showcase eco-friendly collections, blending sustainability with style and quality. The event will also serve as a platform for discussions on green financing, resource efficiency, and global sustainability standards, equipping businesses with insights to navigate the evolving market landscape.
The event will also feature industry-led sustainability awards and special initiatives. The special awards on sustainability will recognize pioneers in sustainable textile production, while the Better Cotton Initiative Annual Meet will promote ethical and responsible cotton sourcing. The UNEP ‘Training of Trainers Toolkit for Sustainable Fashion Communication’ will also be launched at the event, furthering education and awareness of sustainable practices.
Adding a cultural dimension, Bharat Tex 2025 will present Indi-Haat, a vibrant showcase of India’s rich textile heritage, handlooms, and handicrafts. This initiative emphasizes sustainable livelihoods and the preservation of traditional crafts while integrating modern sustainability practices. By celebrating these age-old traditions, Bharat Tex 2025 aims to build a fair, sustainable ecosystem that benefits artisans and small-scale producers.
