Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took a sharp swipe at Pakistan during his Srinagar visit on Thursday. Visiting the military cantonment, the defence minister met the heroes of Operation Sindoor and lauded their valour. While addressing the troop, Singh cited the recent IMF loan granted to Pakistan.
“You must have recently heard how it (Pakistan) had again gone to the IMF, begging for a loan. On the other hand, there is our country, which today is among the nations that lend money to the IMF so that the International Monetary Fund can, in turn, provide loans to poor countries,” Singh said.
He further added, “As for Pakistan, what more can I even say about it to you? That country, through its incessant begging, has brought itself to a condition so pathetic that one could say, wherever Pakistan stands, the line of beggars begins from there (Pakistanjahan se khada hota hai, maangne walon ki line wahan se shuru hoti hai).”
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Ministry of Interior recently revealed data on the deportation of Pakistani nationals involved in begging abroad, as reported by ARY News.
As per the government data, since last year, a total of 5,402 Pakistani beggars have been deported from several foreign nations.
The countries involved in these deportations include Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the UAE, Malaysia, Qatar, and Oman. The year 2024 saw a particularly high number, with 4,850 individuals sent back, the bulk of whom—4,498—were deported from Saudi Arabia, followed by 242 from Iraq.
