The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, reshuffled its Cabinet on Monday, inducting five new ministers in a bid to refresh its leadership team. The move is aimed at bolstering governance and addressing key regional representation in the state.
In a formal ceremony at the Raj Bhavan, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria administered the oath of office to the new ministers. Chief Minister Mann, along with several other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, attended the swearing-in ceremony.
The new ministers include Hardeep Singh Mundian, Barinder Kumar Goyal, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Dr Ravjot Singh, and Mohinder Bhagat. The oaths were taken in Punjabi, reflecting the state's cultural roots.
The Cabinet reshuffle also saw the removal of four ministers from key portfolios. Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Anmol Gagan Maan, Balkar Singh, and Bram Shanker Jimpa were all dropped from their positions. The changes come as part of the AAP government’s broader efforts to enhance efficiency and align with new governance priorities.
The reshuffle follows the recent release of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal from Tihar Jail after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in the excise policy case. This reshuffle may signal a new phase in the Mann government’s approach to governance, aiming for stronger leadership in the months ahead.
