PM Modi to visit UK and Maldives from July 23–26

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on an official visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives from July 23 to 26, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Sunday.

The visit to the UK is at the invitation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, while the state visit to the Maldives is being undertaken at the invitation of President Mohamed Muizzu.

According to the MEA, this will be PM Modi’s fourth visit to the UK, where he is scheduled to hold wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Starmer on the full spectrum of India–UK bilateral ties.

The leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. Additionally, PM Modi is expected to call on King Charles III during his visit.

The two sides will review the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), with a particular focus on areas such as trade and economy, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate, health, education, and people-to-people connections, the MEA said.

In the second leg of the trip, PM Modi will undertake a state visit to the Maldives from July 25 to 26, marking his third visit to the island nation. It will be the first Head of State or Government-level visit to Maldives during President Mohamed Muizzu’s tenure.

PM Modi will be the ‘Guest of Honour’ at the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of Maldives’ Independence on July 26, 2025.

During the visit, he will hold talks with President Muizzu on issues of mutual interest and review the progress of the India–Maldives Joint Vision for a Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership, which was adopted during Muizzu’s visit to India in October 2024.
