PM Modi speaks to Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim assures full support for India's fight against terrorism

As part of New Delhi diplomatic mechanism to garner support from major global powers in the aftermath of Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani. The Emir expressed complete support for India's fight against terrorism.

Qatar is not only an import regional power, but one of the richest countries in the world, owing to its massive natural gas and oil reserves. The ruling Al-Thani family, to which Sheikh Tamim belongs, has controlled the nation for nearly two centuries, gaining vast wealth through its energy exports and strategic investments.

Following the inhuman terror attack in South Kashmir's Pahalgam that killed at least 26 tourists and injured several more, major global powers have expressed support for India's fight against terrorism. On Monday (May 5), Russian President Vladimir Putin has unambiguously expressed Russia's support for New Delhi.

"In a telephonic conversation with PM @narendramodi today, the Amir of the State of Qatar, HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani @TamimBinHamad conveyed condolences and solidarity with the people of India at the loss of lives in the cross border terror attack in Pahalgam, India. He expressed full support in India’s fight against terrorism and all its actions to bring the perpetrators to justice," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal tweeted.
