In his first address from the newly inaugurated ‘Seva Teerth’ complex, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the nation was witnessing the creation of a new history.
“Today, we all are witnessing a new history being made... This day of 13th February is witnessing a new beginning in India's development journey... Today, we are all entering Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan with the resolve to achieve 'Viksit Bharat'. We have the divine blessings of achieving our goals,” the Prime Minister said.
Leaving the colonial-era South Block on Raisina Hill, close to Rashtrapati Bhavan, PM Modi on Friday began functioning from his new office at Seva Teerth.
The Prime Minister, who inaugurated Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan 1 and 2, in the national capital today, said the new buildings reflect the country's commitment to citizen-centric governance and national progress.
“While buildings like South Block and North Block were built to implement the vision of the British government, today I can proudly say that new complexes like Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan have been built to fulfil the aspirations of the people of India. The decisions made here will be based on the aspirations of 140 crore citizens and not the vision of a Maharaja,” the Prime Minister said, addressing a gathering from Seva Teerth.
"It's essential that our vision of 'Viksit Bharat' is reflected not just in our policies and plans, but also in our workplaces and our buildings. The places where our country is governed must be both effective and inspiring," he added.
Seva Teerth houses the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, the Cabinet Secretariat, all of which were previously located across different locations.
Kartavya Bhavan 1 and 2 accommodate several key ministries, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Law & Justice, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
