Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially joined Truth Social, the social media platform launched by Donald Trump, marking a significant digital engagement between the two leaders. In his first post on the platform, PM Modi expressed enthusiasm about connecting with users.
"Delighted to be on Truth Social! Looking forward to interacting with all the passionate voices here and engaging in meaningful conversations in the times to come," he wrote.
Accompanying his post was a special picture from the ‘Howdy Modi’ event in Houston, Texas, in September 2019, where he and Trump were seen holding hands in a show of camaraderie.
PM Modi’s arrival on Truth Social came shortly after Trump shared the link to the Indian leader’s recent podcast interview with US-based AI researcher and podcaster Lex Fridman.
In response, PM Modi expressed gratitude, stating, "Thank you, my friend, President Trump. I’ve covered a wide range of topics, including my life journey, India’s civilisational outlook, global issues, and more."
The three-hour-long podcast, aired on Sunday evening, featured discussions on PM Modi’s childhood, RSS background, 2002 Gujarat riots, and global geopolitics.
During the podcast, PM Modi highlighted his strong personal rapport with Trump, emphasizing their shared commitment to a "nation first" approach.
"Trump believes in ‘America First,’ and I believe in ‘India First.’ That shared spirit connects us well," the Prime Minister remarked.
Recalling the 2019 ‘Howdy Modi’ event, PM Modi praised Trump’s spontaneity and trust, noting how the former US President agreed to take a lap around the stadium, setting aside security protocols. "I was touched by his courage and his trust in me," he said, comparing it to Trump’s resilience after the recent assassination attempt during his 2024 presidential campaign.
PM Modi’s Truth Social debut also coincided with the India visit of Trump’s Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard, who met the Prime Minister during her three-day trip.
Shortly after Gabbard’s visit, PM Modi followed only two accounts on Truth Social - Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance - signaling his engagement with key US Republican figures.
Truth Social was launched by Donald Trump in 2022, following his ban from Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) in the aftermath of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots.
The platform has since become Trump’s primary communication tool, where he shares political updates, campaign messages, and global commentaries.
