Addressing the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his speech by saluting the bravehearts of Operation Sindoor. He also said Pakistan is still getting sleepless nights.
"I salute the valour of our bravehearts. Through Operation Sindoor, our soldiers have responded with a force beyond the enemy’s imagination. On April 22nd, terrorists from across the border targeted and killed innocent civilians after asking their religion. The entire nation was enraged," he said.
He said the “Operation Sindoor" is the expression of India's outrage after the 22 April Pahalgam attack. " Our Forces did what had never been done for several decades. We entered hundreds of kilometres into the enemy soil and razed their terrorist HQ to the ground… Destruction in Pakistan is so massive that new revelations are being made every day and new information is coming out daily…" he said.
The PM said armed forces were given complete freedom during Operation Sindoor, with the choice of “time, location and date" left entirely to military commanders. “We gave freehand to our forces, we told them forces that time, location and date you will decide," he said.
The Prime Minister also said that India will not bow to nuclear blackmail and will respond firmly to any threat. “We have decided that terrorists, and their friends will not be spared and they will be treated in the same way. We are not going to come under nuclear pressure," PM Modi said.
Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir recently from the US soil threatened to launch a nuclear war against India and take down "half the world".
Paying tribute to the role of women in India’s history, PM Modi said, “Our women power has contributed no less to our freedom struggle and the making of our Constitution. To those who framed our Constitution, I bow before them today from the Red Fort."
Speaking about the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, PM Modi said India had delivered a punishment to the enemies beyond their dreams. “India has decided that blood and water will not flow together. Now, my fellow countrymen have clearly understood how unjust and one-sided the Indus agreement is. The waters of rivers originating in India have been irrigating the fields of our enemies, while the farmers and the land of my own country remain thirsty without water," he said.
His remarks came after Pakistani leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, threatened India for keeping the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance following the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack.
