The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has temporarily seized immovable assets worth Rs. 94.82 Crore from Sidharth Chauhan, the promoter of Sidhartha Buildhome Pvt. Ltd. (SBPL). The assets, which include land, a residential house, and a commercial property in Gurugram, Haryana, were seized under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with a case involving fraud against homebuyers.

The death toll from the earthquake that hit Myanmar has risen to more than 1,700 as more bodies have been pulled from the rubble, the country’s military-led government said Monday.

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit at midday Friday, causing widespread damage, including in the capital Naypitaw and the second largest city, Mandalay.

The earthquake, whose epicenter was near Mandalay, brought down scores of buildings and damaged other infrastructure like the city’s airport.

Relief efforts have been hampered by buckled roads, downed bridges, spotty communications and the challenges of operating in a country engaged in a civil war.

The Assam government said it has extended the application of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) in three districts of the state for six more months after a review of the law and order situation.

The government, however, withdrew the controversial law from Dibrugarh district as the situation "improved" there.

"I extend my wishes to people across the country on the occasion of Eid. The Ramzan month went very well. Eid is being celebrated peacefully and with a feeling of brotherhood. Eid is the day to embrace each other by forgetting everything and unite," said Shahnawaz Hussain.
