Nidhi Tewari has been appointed as the private secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Accordng to reports, the central government on Saturday issued a memorandum announcing the appointment of Nidhi Tewari, a 2014-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Who is Nidhi Tewari?Tewari has been serving as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) since November 2022. Earlier she was Under Secretary at Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). She specifically took care of areas such as External Affairs, Atomic Energy and Security Affairs, as well as the state of Rajasthan, according to News18.

According to the memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on March 29, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved her appointment with immediate effect.
As per the News18 report, Tewari had secured the 96th rank in the Civil Services Examination, 2013. She hails from Mehmurganj in Varanasi – that happens to be the Prime Minister’s Lok Sabha constituency since 2014. Before clearing the Civil Services Examination in 2013, she was working as Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax), Varanasi and prepared for the examination along with her job.
Tiill now, the Prime Minister has had two Private Secretaries – Vivek Kumar and Hardik Satishchandra Shah.
