As artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes industries worldwide, India is emerging as a global leader in AI innovation, talent, and adoption. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing visit to France for the AI Action Summit in Paris underscores India's rising influence in global AI governance and policy-making. India’s participation in AI discussions at the highest level further strengthens its role in shaping the future of AI research, regulation, and ethical development.

Global tech leaders from OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, and IBM have acknowledged India’s growing importance in AI development, recognizing its expanding AI talent pool, robust digital infrastructure, and increasing AI investment.

Global Tech Leaders Recognize India’s AI Potential

Industry leaders have highlighted India's growing influence in AI and its potential to shape the future of technology.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, emphasized India’s role in the AI revolution, stating, “India is an incredibly important market for AI in general and OpenAI in particular. It is our second-biggest market; we tripled our users here in the last year. But mostly, seeing what people in India are building—the stack, chips, models, all the incredible applications—India should be doing everything. India should be among the leaders of the AI revolution.”

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, reinforced India's AI leadership, stating, “India can lead the AI frontier!”

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, pointed to India’s potential in AI-driven transformation, saying, “India can do great work in the area of Indic languages and transforming its industries using artificial intelligence.”

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, highlighted India's AI capabilities, stating, “It makes complete sense that India should manufacture its own AI. India’s next generation will be the back-office for AI delivery.”

Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM, pointed to India’s strategic advantage in AI adoption, saying, “India is poised to become a global leader in AI deployment. India's massive population and data wealth create a unique advantage in the AI landscape.”

India’s AI Talent and Workforce Growth

India is witnessing rapid growth in AI talent, reinforcing its position as a key global AI hub.

The Emeritus Global Workplace Skills Study 2025 found that 94% of Indian professionals believe mastering AI skills will accelerate their career growth, making India one of the fastest-growing AI talent markets.

The Bosch Tech Compass Survey 2025 revealed that over 50% of Indians are actively self-educating in AI-related skills, positioning the country at the forefront of AI readiness.

Saibal Chakraborty, Technology and Digital Advantage Practice, BCG, emphasized India’s AI adoption, stating, “30 percent of Indian companies have maximized AI’s value potential, surpassing the global average of 26 percent.” He further noted, “100 percent of companies are actively experimenting with AI.”

India’s Expanding Role in Global AI Development

With its strong digital infrastructure, increasing AI adoption, and expanding investment ecosystem, India is set to become a global leader in AI innovation and deployment. As Jensen Huang remarked, “India is not just participating in the AI revolution—it is leading it.”

As global technology leaders continue to recognize India’s AI advancements, the country is set to play a defining role in shaping the future of AI innovation and deployment worldwide.
